I am a very hesitant photographer however I make jewelry and need to take good photos close up. i just returned the a710 because it or I did not do well with the close up issues. I purchased macro and telephoto lens for it and had problems with the macro lens. I am trying to decide between the a720 and the sx100. Can someone let me know what they think of the quality of both? Which one would be better for close ups. I cannot use the close up lens and telephoto with the sx100 and that causes me trouble.

Not sure about the SX100 but here is a shot using the A720 macro function

here is the setup (you can get it closer as well and still maintain proper focus)

The macro function on my SX100 is great.

Here is an okay pic I took free hand, w/ the Macro setting on the "Auto" mode:

I think if you used a small tripod of some sort and learned the manual settings you could turn out great pics.

Currently in the process of buying a DSLR...
