These are linked from the Canon Jap site in the other 450D/XSi thread. I noted that two of Canon's finest lenses are being used to demonstrate the 450D's prowess, but I'm not that impressed for some reason if these pictures represent the best this camera is capable of

I don't really tihnk those qualify as great. There's way too much noise in them IMHO, even at 200 ISO

Wow, how many people that are trying to save money with a less expensive body are going to be shooting with a $1500+ 85L1.2?? I agree, lets see some pictures with the 85 1.8 or the 28-135 IS zoom.

The pictures are nice tho, what I would expect from Canon.

I want to point out that if the shot was a panning shot taken in a cloudy day, the picture would come out differently. Canon AI servo mode behaves precisely that by tracking the subject coming towards you. The cycling shot was setup precisely for the AI servo mode.

both shots have a lot of noise in the shadows and both shot in GOOD light. It seems like the noise will be a bit of an issue.

If the noise isn't AT LEAST better than the 400d, then Canon dropped the ball big time.

People know the difference between Image Quality and Megapixels, especially experienced users.

especially experienced users.

Which is precisely not the intended market for this camera.

Sad but true: more megapixels sells P & S cameras, and it will sell to people upgrading from a P & S to their first DSLR.

So - in a business sense - it's hard to criticise Canon, because they're there to make money, and this clearly will.
