Looks like my future P&S has arrived. Just needs to be priced less than the SD850 and I'm sold! Or is it replacing it? 'Cause the SD850 seems to be disappearing.

Wouldn't think so, not the same specs. Still, more P&S to come??

$250 for this thing? WAY overpriced. Are we sure it's not replacing the SD850? Be stupid but price is the same. SD1000 has dropped nicely though, might end up picking up one of those. Wish I could get the SD870 for the wide angle, oh well.

It's £219 here don't complain :p

But they will drop, always happens especially with P&S

well yeah, but initially that's a lot! But I can't recall the Sd1000's price when it came out so maybe it's not so bad.

Well here I can definately remember the IXUS 70 (SD1000) selling for £199 everywhere, so the 80 IS (SD1100IS) is only 10% more here at least.

^Now or then? I wonder if it's the same for us. I just see the SD1000 for around $170 and paying $80 for IS in that does not have any appeal at all.

Then the price of the IXUS 70 (SD1000) has gone from £199 to as little as £110, so the IXUS 80 IS (SD1100IS) gives pretty high hopes.

I bought an Ixus 80 IS for my parents. It's an incredably easy to use camera and it controls the amount of flash superbly well indoors. My mother suffers from a nervous disposition and the camera deals remarkably well with her hand shake. I originally bought a Panasonic TZ3 for them and was hoping it would be the complete camera, with the wide angled lense and large zoom. How wrong was I?

The TZ3's ability to control the flash indoors isn't as impressive as the Ixus 80 IS. It's anti-shake, ease of use and sharpness isn't as good either.

Hoping to learn some tips on the forum on improving the pictures out of the Ixus 80 IS.

Just upgraded my SD1000 to the SD1100IS and I must say other than the SD1100IS being more aesthetically pleasing there is little reason to upgrade. The only reason I did was because it didnt cost me anything to do so. The IS is IMO barely noticeable, and the extra MP (from 7.1 to 8) is useless. But it is a little nicer looking...

I'm upgrading to the SD1000IS (from an S40). I bought it on Amazon for $205.00. I should have it in a couple of day. Looking forward to a camera that's easier to carry.

I tested this camera out yesterday, man this thing is SMALL and it extremly light.
I'm quite impressed with the movie mode in this camera, you can do 60FPS at 640x480. This is only one of the very few Canon Digital Camera's that can do this if not the only one.

I don't know where you get 60 FPS from. The manual says 30 is the highest frame rate it does at 640x480.

I bought one for my wife. I'm impressed with the image stabiliser and how well it works in low light. I took a photo at 1/8" hand held and there was no blurring. So impressed I'm going to get an image stabiliser lens for my DSLR.
