Anyone that's driven on the 1 (PCH) in CA from San Luis Obispo to Big Sur has probably driven through Ragged Point. it's a small inn with a restaurant, and some drop-dead gorgeous vistas of the coast. here's a few pics that I got when I was there, C&C welcome as always.

Nice photos, I particularly like the last one from the trail to the beach. If I remember correctly, the trail to the beach is quite steep with lots of loose, black sand - I hope you and your gear made it without any problems.

yep, you're definitely right about that. it was a bit hairy getting down but me and the gear made it down just fine.

it's amazing how quickly the weather changes in that part of the coast. it was sunny the entire drive, and then when we got to big sur and set up our tent it started dumping rain that would continue on all night. here's a pic in ragged point that I took a few years ago when it was so foggy that you couldn't see the water from the vista point and the hiking trail was closed off.

Great shots! Really like the fog. You're right about the difficulty of the trails around here, though. We get many a rescue from Ragged Point.
