Jay-Bird Senior Member More info | Aug 01, 2010 11:11 | #1964 From an abandoned building downtown. The city government had the bright idea to turn our downtown into an open mall. You would park on an adjacent street and walk into what used to be Main St. I guess they did not have the foresight to realize people dont want to walk around in 95 plus degree heat for extended periods; this is southern New Mexico after all. So all of the prominent business' either went belly up or left to new locations. Downtown was bascically a ghost town in the middle of city of 90,000. This was taken on a summer weeknight about 7:30PM Within the last few years they have started restoring Main St. Eventually it will all have a road again. They started with a block.
