LOL, it's the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. They are the two southernmost islands in the Caribbean, just North of Venezuela and Guyana, and just South of other islands like Grenada and Barbados.
Look at the bottom right corner of this map: http://www.caribbeandiving.com/islands/ (external link)

So then by necessity the building/photo is on one or the other of the two islands. :p

Enjoy!

Yessir, though I'm not sure which island either. I think people tend to reference both names (Trinidad & Tobago) because they're not as popular as say, Barbados, so the full name sometimes makes it easier to recognize for other people. There is for example a Trinidad in California IIRC.

Nice! What part of Trinidad is that? I spent my teen years in Diego Martin/Petit Valley in the 80s. I was born there but have lived most of my life in Toronto.

do you know Macqueripe? it's a small bay that's great for swimming near Chaguaramas north of Port of Spain. The church is on that road leading to the bay.

Oh yeah, used to go there with my uncle as a kid. Nice long stretch of road to get there. My uncle used to race his old Ford Cortina up that stretch.
It's an old submarine bay that the Americans used during WW2 if I remember correctly. There was the old supposedly haunted hotel or whatever, that the US Army soldiers used to stay at during WW2 down at the end of the road and by the beach.
Cool, I may have to make a trip there next time I'm in Trinidad.

Thanks for the info!

Took this on a trip across South Dakota Route 44 between Interior and Scenic. I converted to BW, but I'm not sure on a proper crop...it almost seems crowded or too busy with the trees framing the house.

After seeing someone elses images of "Rock-a-Hoola" abandoned water park I was so intrigued I gathered up the wife and headed for the old park from Las Vegas. I was waiting for the weather to cool off, but just couldn't wait to take the two hour trip...

Just for info:: the Lake Doris/Rock-a-Hoola/Discovery Park has been around since 1968 as a campground that developed into a waterpark. It's is the first waterpark ever created and was in and out of service for about 25 years before closing down for good in 2004. In the late 80's Lake Delores closed to be reopened as Rock-a-Hoola in 1990. filed chapter 11 in 2000. It became Discovery Park and reopened Memorial day in 2002 - yet closed in the summer of 2004 with over $3 million in debt. Despite being Discovery Park the owners never changed the signs or actual name on the park itself.

Here are a few images from the set I went out and took. I am still working on the set which are mostly stitched images of 8 to 12 shots each. May end up added some sky with clouds in the near future when they are all completed.

As you can see in the images, it's amazing the condition of the paint on the buildings as they are exposed to the sun and sandy wind day after day. Yet the buildings continue to look bright and they are still in excellent condition - though vandels have tore up the interiors.

The famous sign you can read from hwy 15 west bound to Barstow.

This is a section of the lazy river like raft ride. one that slowly moved riders on a big innertube around the park.

this one is from where the actual fast water slides use to be.

Think you are taking about the pictures I posted about two months ago. You just has to go out and show me up, cool.:D You shot some great looking pictures, love the extra color in yours over the color in the ones I shot of the park. Of course this means I will have to go back and re-shoot the park again soon. Oh darn, I'll have to take another trip to Las Vegas, NV again in order to do the re-shoot.:D

Crimsonblack, please post more shots of the park when you get the time.

Craig

You are right. They were your photos. You got me hooked on the park and searching the parks history.

LOL - come on back to Vegas. Hard to believe that Las Vegas - in the desert- has no water parks. I don't consider Circus Circus and their Adventure dome a water park. We need one.

Thanks for the great comments. Might be going back again when the weather cools off a bit.

It's been a LONG time since I was in Vegas, but there used to be a pretty large water park right on the strip. I guess that's long gone? It used to be near the fly-away thingy with the indoor skydiving. I know because I went to both places as a kid.

Are these long gone?

You must have seen them on another forum as I couldn't find them here on POTN as I thought I had posted.:o
Las Vegas, NV use to have a great water park, it was right across from Circus Circus. We would play at the water park in the daytime and then play on the Strip at night. Too bad they took the water park out it was lots of fun and rated number #3 in the country.
