It's been a LONG time since I was in Vegas, but there used to be a pretty large water park right on the strip. I guess that's long gone? It used to be near the fly-away thingy with the indoor skydiving. I know because I went to both places as a kid.

Are these long gone?

Wet 'n Wild closed in 2004. That's the only water park that was on The Strip that I've heard of. There have been plans "in the works" to build another one ever since, but none have ever panned out.

Awesome, glad I found this thread! I'm out almost every weekend looking for & getting into abandoned buildings to photograph them. There is something quite beautiful about a place which was once full of life & functioning as an integral part of our civilisation, but is now slowly decaying...

Here are a few of my recent shots (all taken with my 400D - yet to take the new 5D out to play, but can't wait to see how it goes in this type of environment!)

From an old coal processing plant, closed many years ago:

From an old power station, again closed for many years:

Great stuff, Karl. I'm into UE as well. You're right, there is quite a lot of beauty in things that are abandoned and derelict.

Great work there Karl. I worked on a power station many years ago, and often thought it would be the creepiest place in the world if it was abandoned. Of course I wasn't into photography back then. Would love to find one now.

Very nice work Karl, and welcome to the forums!

I think I recognize a couple of your shots; I hope to get to Philadelphia
sometime reasonably soon.

Matt, Nice find! What kind of asylum is that with all the turn tables? Did you look at the name on the broken record's label? :)
Tell us more about that place if you know.

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

An old Cotton Gin near Cooper, TX that I found last weekend while out driving around scouting.

It was a mental asylum, the turn tables are part of the cinema setup..
