Single_track -- is that near Keene, maybe on rt 10? There's one there that I keep being astonished is still standing, every time I drive by it...

It is in Keene. I too am amazed it continues to stand. I have shot it 4 times now; First in 6x7, Second in 4x5, and Finally in digital (x2). I have been all over it, although the floors are ready to give way anyday now. I keep going back expecting to find a empty field.

I want to go back and get better shots of the truck in the garage. The house next to the barn is also falling apart and closed off. I am trying to get permission to go inside, may be a real gem in there.

I also have shots in the bottom floor of the barn with milking or feeding stations.

.......One of those spots that keeps drawing me back.

I always want C&C on my shots.

Not in the same league as the other images in this thread - this was taken with an old cheap point and shoot. It was taken in the New River Gorge West Virginia. There was so much kudzu that I couldn't get any closer.

It looks like your photos are a nice fit here.
Glad you posted, and feel free to post more like this. :)
I've been through Goldfield a few times in the past, and there are some interesting structures there to say the least. How's the Goldfield Hotel doing these days?

Now that "is" funny! A testament to good sign building? ;)
Do you happen to remember the name of the Bar?
-Bruce

Thanks for the invite!
Oh the hotel is still there.... That whole town is full of dilapidated buildings. Pretty cool spot to pass through.
All I know about it is that it used to be called "the Lace". The funny thing about it is that no one Ive talked to actually remembers the structure.

Good because abandoned buildings are like abandoned children, you should feel guilty and adopt them.

Nice shot Bogie. I had to look up kudzu (although I guessed it was the vines growing everywhere). Now I know that it's edible too! The things you learn from POTN!

I never go anywhere for the first time alone but I will make return trips by myself
it's usually not a good idea to be in an unmaintained structure by yourself.
use common sense and listen to your gut, if that little voice in your head keeps telling you somethings not right/its time to go........its probably time to go.
also, I let my Wife know exactly where I'm going to be.

I guess I'm a risk taker. I almost always go alone.

Not that I do that much shooting of abandonded buildings, but I do a lot of hiking and and shooting virtually always solo. If there are trailhead sign-in sheets, I'll do that.

Yep. Me, too. I always hike and explore alone. On October 23, 2003, I became the 1,059th person to complete the Sierra Club's Hundred Peaks Challenge (external link) by climbing/hiking to the summits of 100 Southern California mountains taller than 5,000'. I did them all solo. The Hundred Peaks Section committee had no records of anyone else ever doing their first 100 peaks solo before. Kinda makes my achievement historically significant, I suppose.

I wanted my dog to be the first canine to reach 100 peaks in section history, too. Unfortunately, she died last October before I got her to that point. She only had 45 of the mountains on their list under her belt, er... collar, at the time.

Very cool Thomas. Congratulations!

Sorry about the dog, mine has gotten to the point of only being about to make it around the block and sometimes not even that.
