Cisco post office in Utah. This was a pretty neat little abandoned town to explore.

I was in Cisco in the early 1990's on my way between National parks in the area. If you get a chance check it out.

navydoc Cream of the Crop More info | Thanks Todd. That's the OR on the USS Hornet Museum by the way. I thought it would make a good subject to look like a matte painting from a sci fi movie or computer game. That was my goal anyway. Gene - My Photo Gallery ||

ToddLambert I don't like titles More info | Jun 20, 2013 20:42 | #5173 Fauxhenge I had discovered this relatively unknown gem, about two years ago. I had grand visions of shooting the milky way above it, yada yada yada... I drove 8 hours to get to it, only to find that it was gone! All that remained was indentations in the field where it once stood. You can imagine how devastated I was and I came back home empty handed. I researched more and found that the guy who had built this, died, and the family ended up donating the stones to a local city. The city sat on them for another year and then finally set them back up in the middle of town. I was very bummed about this, as the original location was very remote and dark. But, I persevered and vowed to make another trip out here and finally get my shot. Well, another 8 hour trip, I arrived to find an un-announced thunderstorm moved in and I sat in the car, watching the rain pour down and the skies cloudy - no milky way shot for me! I waited for several hours, trying to find a shot, as this installation is now right next to a business park, and there is a big baseball field right behind it. It was also lit with cheezy cheap landscape lights all around it. Again, I was super bummed. But, then I noticed that I could actually swivel the lights they installed, away from the stones and I found this particular angle where the buildings and baseball field are not visible... then... the skies let up and it stopped pouring, so I quickly got into place and snapped as quickly as I could, while running around lighting the stones by hand. In the end, I didn't get the shot that I had envisioned, but at least I got a shot! ![]()

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.
