With the building dating back to 1913, it's a shame it wasn't preserved.

Well captured, Scott.

Thank you. Unfortunately the building has been vacant for decades and a fire started by the homeless in 2017 sealed it's doom. Luckily a few still remain.

I was going to ask what it was like 'stood up' Ted, so ta for showing us.

I'll bet they are 'peed off' at getting rid of the electric trams now  Or are they still operating?

Craig,

Where did you see this was dating back to 1913?

The 'Max' train is still operating. Another problem for the old station is that the real train runs right behind it and then they put the commuter max train right in front of it. There is no parking and access stinks. The squatter fire in 2017 doomed the structure as it's unreinforced masonry. A small earthquake would have toppled it in seconds most likely.

Yes, 1913. I 'liberated' the 19.

"510 NW 3rd Avenue
Engine 2 - 1912 to 1950

Station 2 is was built in 1912 and is perhaps the most photographed of all Portland Fire Stations. Its chinker brick design and very visible location give it a readily identifiable look. It would house Engine 2 and serve until 1950 when it was condemned because of its lack of structural integrity. This did not seem to deter it from being used for many purposes over the years. When closed, Engine 2 would move down Front Avenue to the newly built Central Fire Station at 55 SW Ash Street. Engine 2 would remain in service there as a second Engine Company until 1962, at which time it was put out of service and it the crew would staff the newly created Squad 1."

A 1930s car park in the middle of Newcastle that lasted and lasted (and is still in use) but is finally slated for demolition. I love this place, got a real tinge of sadness when they closed off the top floors although I knew it was coming. RX10iv

It's a good 40 minute hard walk to the top and the village!

Not a problem now Charles. Somehow it was a double post but I have no idea why the photos didn't come up on the second post -? I have deleted it

Very interesting door latch.
Is it missing a cover or how it was made?
