Center Elie Momboisse at Portbail in France. It is now abandoned but until recently it was a holiday centre for children.

I'm fascinated that there aren't any external shutters Kenny?

As for the gate? I think that it could be a statement of how green the owner is trying to be by using green string ;-)a I don't think it can be used very often?

This is the front of the building. Sorry John, no shutters, but the windows are boarded up inside and much of the window glass is smashed. We are spoiled in France with so many abandoned buildings.

That used to be a bonus for the British who wanted to renovate as the French would much rather sell the house that was rundown rather than sort it. Then they would buy a nice new Little Box Made of Ticky-racky. (thinks  I could write a song about that ? )

"the French would much rather sell the house that was rundown rather than sort it"
and the inheritance laws causes many older homes to be left empty for years until they become inhabitable.

Good old Bonie and his inheritance laws eh Kenny. All so the big landowners of his time couldn't challenge him

I am wondering if it was built as a water tower for steam engines?

I'd thought same. Couldn't see pipe to actually fill the tank.

I also looked for the pipes. Perhaps with the age of the tower they either fell off or were taken off for safety?
