I ordered my Sigma 530DG Super on friday, and been reading and reading here on diffusers and i'm just going crazy with all the choices. I'm tring out a DIY bounce. I'm mainly going to be doing stuff outside and at night (downtown scences). I was looking at the Promax setup. Just like to get some input. I'm not worried about indoor portrait stuff, have a different gear setup for that.

Leave all the 'tupperware' choices in the kitchen and get something like the LumiQuest Promax System. It is very easy to carry as it folds into a flat wallet and is extremely versatile for virtually all situations you will want to use the flash for.

Made that A Better Bounce Card yesterday(2 versions), was surprised how well it work. Also own the lightshpere which works great but takes up too much space in the bag and attracts a lot of attention.

If shooting mainly outdoors, ignore the Stoffen and the Lightsphere products. (Lightspheres have also had a reputation for falling off and rolling down the aisle at the most embarrasing and least opportune moment!)

Go with a unit which has a built in large reflective area, like the Lumiquest Promax; or go with a minisoftbox like Wescott Micro Apollo or Photoflex or Lumiquest all offer.

Yeah, I got a pack of index cards the other day. :) Looking at the Promax and some of the softboxes. Local shop has some Lumiquest stuff. They have the Mini Softbox FX and Softbox 2, but not the Promax system.

Something that will work as just a quick and cheap solution is a very thin, cheap handkerchief. They are easy to carry. They are not perfect, but in an emergency they can work quite well.

I've got the lightsphere knock off (wasn't about to pay $40 for some plastic) it works pretty good but I find myself using it rarely because it's big and looks pretty stupid.

After reading what I just posted it sounds ridiculous but you honestly have to take it into consideration.

cheers!
