For a while now I have looked at all the posts that popped up with regard to photo gallery websites and photo sales, non of them have really floated my boat to be honest, until that is a saw a post about Photium - www.photium.com (external link)

It ticked all the boxes when I tried the free trial, offering a very easy interface, easy payment plan, password protected galleries, just pretty much everything I required as a hobbyist photographer looking to maybe sell some prints here and there.

I also have to point out that the customer service is just fantastic, I mean brilliant and nothing is to much trouble, to me that is important in this day and age.

So I have made a start, I have not done too much just yet as I am still trying to figure out some wording, which galleries etc

So here it is and I am feeling quite proud, before I do start putting alot of work in, what do you think about the layout and colours I have chosen, please note it is a work in progress :)

I just found your thread whilst searching the forums for information about Photium because I am thinking of using them for my online gallery. It's a shame no one bothered responding to your thread.

You have some really good stuff in your galleries. I particularly like the bike-related photographs. I spotted Sammy Miller in there. Haven't seen him for many years!

Regarding feedback about your layout, I like the simple colour scheme with the basic shades of grey, and the way you have categorized your galleries is good. It all works well.

The only thing I would do if it was my site would be to arrange it so more of the home page content was in the first 'screen', so that you don't have to scroll down as far to get to the News and gallery sections. Also I would have all the gallery introduction boxes the same size, which would mean keeping to the same format thumbnail image and limiting the introductory text to avoid expanding the box downward. :-)

Photium looks well worth a try to me.

Mike
