Personally, I think it's better than shooting direct flash but not as good as just bouncing the flash off the ceiling. The only time I would consider using such a diffuser is if direct bounce off the ceiling (or walls) is not practical or if bouncing off walls would introduce a really bad color cast that's going to be difficult to correct in PP.

I agree with Leo's analysis.

I agree with Leo's analysis.

So do I.

I would never deliberately shoot a subject so close to the background with lighting that would produce the shadows in those examples. Of course, there are times where you don't have a choice but bouncing off a much larger surface would have softened those shadows a lot.

I use a LumiQuest Promax System kit set up much like the bouncer pictured but I usually use it for people out in the middle of large spaces where shadows don't fall on close backgrounds.

I third Leo's analysis.

Thanks all you guys ...I learn a lot from all of you since I join this forum .

For that set up above I only use it for large area ,high ceiling .If I can bouce the ceiling ...I'll bounce it ,but I alway avoid using direct flash to shoot people .
