Hi guys,

I have heard all about high speed sync with flashes on the G9 up to 1/2500. I am wandering if this is only possible by somehow fooling the camera into thinking that there is nothing in the hotshoe?

What I want to do is sync at high speed with some pocketwizards. Has anyone tried going over 1/250 with a PW in a G9 hotshoe? I think it should be possible but i would like some confirmation.....:)

thanks!

You can just turn enable high-speed flash sync on your flash and you can go go above what it allows for...

Since you have pocketwizard I am pretty sure that will disable ETTL II so the flash will be on manual and therefore you can use any shutter speed you want

Yes i think you are right but actually I want to fire a strobe that is only manual anyway. I am not worried about what the flash thinks is going on more what the camera is thinking. By putting anything in the hotshoe, does it automatically limit shutter speed to 1/250 or can you override that in manual mode on the camera?

You will be fine...you will be able to set the shutter speed to whatever you want..By simply putting something in the hot shoe that does not automatically limit the shutter speed...Just make sure to reduce the power of your lighting, because otherwise it will prob not go off on time...hope that helps!

G9 specific info here: http://lightdescription.blogspot.com …/g9-flash-sync-speed.html (external link)

I don't have PW but with the Cactus trigger on my G9, on a good day I can sync at 1/640 in a small room.
