Caught this fish-eagle from a boat on the Okavango river (not the delta) in Botswana.

Great shot and a very beautiful bird. I wonder if he hunts at night or dusk and dawn with those big eyes. :)

I'm not sure, but being a fish-eagle i suspect he only hunts during the daytime.

Can't remember too well, but probably about 30 - 40 feet. These are quite tightly cropped

They are stunning birds! Great shots getting such a pose. The rich bronze tones of the browns is what sets this bird apart. It looks like it's carved in bronze.

Outstanding! Thanks for sharing.

Odd that you post this now, I was just reading last night about the Okavango area in a book last night (written by a guide that used to work in Botswana). Don't know if you'll be able to get it across the pond, but "Whatever you do, Don't Run: True Tales of a Botswana Safari Guide " by Peter Allison is a pretty entertaining book.

This was taken on a three day excursion on a sixteen day holiday in Namibia, but being able to get so close to so many birds on a boat was really thrilling.
