I would like to buy a 5D and saw them advertised for $939 at Best Price Cameras dot com (bestpricecameras.com) and wondered how they are selling them so cheap. Any ideas?

They are scammers. Avoid them. Check resellerratings.com before you order online.

Definitely a scam, there's no way you can find one for that price.. not even a used one.

They can't. Check out http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Best_Price_Cameras_6 (external link)

Beware deals that are too good to be true.

When you see offers like this, you really should think... why would they be offering them so much cheaper than anyone else?

there was someone who was just scammed by them on here a couple weeks ago. they upsell everything else.. battery is 100 dollars instead of 50. a cheap A$$ lens that is usually 150 dollars is 600 through them. they make their money back somehow, and you spend more than you would have through a reputable vendor.

stay away from sites like that. if it sounds too good to be true.... you know its not.

Because they always manage to sucker new people every week who:

1. Are greedy enough to think they can get something for nothing, or
2. Have not done any research at all, or
3. Call the first place they see with the lowest price (see #2).

The sad thing is these places are usually these not doing anything illegal, so there's no concrete way to shut them down. Unethical? You bet!! But if a person is naive enough to not ask any questions and fall for their line of B.S. then they will continue to sell.

Rule of thumb: If a new item is advertised at a price that is only 1/2 or 1/3 the price advertised by the reputable folks, then it is either a SCAM, a lie, a bait-and-switch, an upsell trick, permanently on back order, or missing all the standard parts that Canon normally includes in the price. Things like the cardboard box will cost you $100 extra.

You want styrofoam packing? That's another $75.

Remember: Check www.reselleratings.com (external link) and do a search of the forums. Keywords would be: scam, ripoff, bad vendor, etc.

I assumed that they were a scam but just wanted to make sure. Thanks for all the replies. I have always believed you get what you pay for so this was a big red flag already and your replies seal the deal.
