I can be at the entrance to Miami Metro Zoo at 9:15 am on Friday December 26th. Any one else at that time?

I will be using a 100-400 and always carry the new 24-105 L with me which you are welcome to try if you like. It is extremely sharp and great for landscapes and portraits.

I was there last weekend and I found that my 75-300 was just about right for the zoo. The Amazon Beyond exibit and giraffes would be perfect for the 18-55 kit lens. Many of areas might require a longer lens.

It made me have an itch for a 70-200 or a 100-400. I think I can resist for now.

I should be able to make it there at 9-10ish on the 26th. We just need to set a official meet time and place (In front of the main Amazon Beyond sign at the entrance maybe).

One member of the group will be leaving work at 5:00 am on the 26th and very likely will go home for a "cat" nap. 11 am would work better for him.

However, if everyone else wants an early start then I would be willing to meet him at the entrance when he arrives.

So far it seems 9-10 is the preferred time range for most. (Members: Ft Lauderdale: 1 - Hollywood: 2 - Miami: 2 - Hialeah: 1 - Cutler Bay: 1)

I think that I might try to learn something and try getting by with the 18-55 this trip. Although this doesnt mean that I wont bring the longer lens. My mother-in-law took some pictures with a P&S and used some wider angles that my longer lens couldn't and it gave me some ideas.

It seems that I am the closest to the zoo. Its only 10 minutes away from home.

I am flexible for anytime between 9-11 just let me know. I just hope the tigers aren't lazy like last weekend.

Well if every body is down with 9:30am at the front gate, I guess I can try to make it there for that time. If not I'll just call you Tony when I get there.
