1. use the cable supplied with the camera connect camera with computer, and follow instructions on screen for downloading images

2. get yourself a card reader and transfer photos that way.

I have winXp with sp2. I think I saw something about problems with it viewing RAW and downloading from the camera. I can't see any RAW files at all.

Canon RAW files have the extension .CRW (not .RAW). If you use a card reader, you can access the memory card just as if it is a kind of harddisk in Windows. You can also use the Canon software to download the images from the camera, exactly the same as when you shoot JPEG - there's no difference.

The CRW format is a proprietary file format from Canon. That means that you need special software to view the images. You can't view the images using Windows Picture Viewer. Use the Canon software that came with the camera to view the images and convert them to a standard format such as TIFF or JPEG. See the manual of the software.

Please explain step by step what you're doing and when you get stuck, so we can give you more useful answers.

I use Downloader Pro (external link). It's a very nice, fast downloading software.
