Are the spots on my lens or inside my camera? I had just cleaned my lens a couple of hours before and had the cap on it most of the time.

Do I need to send my camera off to have the sensor cleaned? Camera is a little over two years old.

Thanks,

Kim

Sensor dust, try a rocket blower? Might just blow right off

...if it doesn't blow off like the above poster suggests then a quick wipe with a sensor swab or equivalent will shift it no problem.

Looks like sensor dust to me! The best way to check is to attach another lens and shoot up at a blank sky at f/22 or higher. if the dust is consistent from lens to lens, its time to have that bad boy cleaned. :)

Good luck!

It certainly looks like sensor dust. I'd learn to do it yourself if you can, it's really not that hard providing you don't go at it like a bull in a china shop.

check out http://www.cleaningdigitalcameras.com/ (external link)

it's the best site I've seen that explains it. Don't worry about sensor dust, it's a fact of life with DSLR's.

cheers
Bill

I'm curious, in step 2 it says:
"Eclipse E2™ - Eclipse E2™ is the chemical formulation from Sony for cleaning the sensors of their Alpha series of cameras as they now have Tin Oxide Sensors. Other cameras with Tin Oxide Sensors include the Canon XTi/400D and 5D along with the Pentax K10D and it is recommended that you use the E2 on these also"

Since the sensor is behind the AA filter, you are actually cleaning the AA filter (not the sensor), do you really need to use E2, as opposed to just using regular Eclipse fluid?

You can only fish for so long before you gotta throw a stick of dynamite in the water.

I had mine cleaned for the first time in over a year. It was a camera repair shop. It cost $75.00 and 2 days. It was local and didn't send the cameras out. I'm now reading a lot about doing it myself cause I can't afford that kind of charge everytime this needs to be done. They did do a perfect cleaning job on it though.
