Anyone familiar with the Young Authors book project? Allie brought home a completely blank hardback book and is supposed to write a story and illustrate it. Due sometime in March. WTF?

My main concern is that if I email the teacher, she will feel obligated to report. Although in Indiana, EVERYONE is obligated to report any suspected abuse, even if they are not a teacher, doctor, caretaker, etc. (We are even required to report suspected abuse of pets, which is kinda neat, heheh.)

Yeah, but don't they have to have some sort of probable cause for the report? Hearsay isn't PC, is it?

The statute states: "an individual who has reason to believe that a child is a victim of child abuse or neglect shall make a report as required by this article".

Doesn't say first hand knowledge. Although in this situation I think I'd be safe merely advising the teacher what was told to me. Its not like Allie actually saw any abuse first hand and reported it to me.

Well, don't forget the data page, the title page, table of contents, forward, preface, the "About the Author" page, last page ads.... by the time you're done with all that, she'll only have to worry about five or six pages. Easy.

Droids aren't supposed to have fun, are they. ;)
And, I love the new model Jeep. That takes All-Terrain to an all new level. :)

LOL Allie said that one boy turned his book in already and all it has is pictures, no words.

Apparently the book project is some sort of contest and Allie wants to win the contest, so I'm having her outline her story.
