You said you'd used it for years at work and then said you wouldn't use it yourself. I didn't get why. Now I get it, "It's a piece of s#!+ software."

With no viable alternative. I get it.

I use Outlook at work only because I'm forced to. At home I use Eudora for email. I don't really have a need for a calendar program, but if I did, I'd use the Mozilla one. I just don't like Outlook at all. I thought you were an anti-Microsoft person too, anyway...

I have XM radio and the comedy channel gets the most play

That's all I ever listened to when I had XM, also. When I bought my car, I signed up for a three year subscription. It expired last year and I didn't bother renewing it. I kind of miss the comedy channel, but since that's all I listened to, I didn't feel it was worth paying the price again.

Ever used Lotus Notes? Don't it will make you gag or worse yet be the next one on the WWW throwing his PC or beating it with a sledge hammer.

No, luckily I haven't had the pleasure of that experience...

How's the excercise program going Lonnie? I Minnie getting you back into shape?

I don't really feel much of a difference yet, but it's only been a couple weeks. I haven't been weighing myself, though. I suppose I could have lost a pound or two without knowing.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

Now you've got it. Outlook's all that will sync with my Pocket PCs (that I've found), but I only use it for calendar really. OE does mail so much better than anything else I've found (including the Mozillas) for rule handling and coping with server restores.

Hi back atcha!

Don't upgrade to Vista...OE no longer works there...so it becomes Outlook or nothing...Thunderbird is not bad for reading newsgroups...but it really doesn't work to my satisfaction as a mail handler.

YA BABY!!!!

It took me a bit to figure out how to run Scanpst, and even longer to find my pst file (it was hidden), but once I ran it all is fine now, and I have Outlook back, YIPPEE :)

Thanks again for the links Jon, I kinda had an idea what to do, they did help to direct me though.:)

As far as Outlook goes, I know it is not perfect, but it is VERY essential to the way I do work. The email, scheduling and contacts is critical to the way I work. And as Jon eluded to, it is what syncs to my Windows Mobile Smart Phone. I have only certain emails forwarded there from my business accounts, so do not sync my Outlook email to my phone, but my schedule and contacts are on there, all critical to work away from the office.

I can't access the Outlook file, and on the webmail page for that account, it does not show any emails that could cause any trouble.

Any file over 1mb freezes my Outlook...I have to go in via webmail, delete it and then reboot the computer to get Outlook to open again. Just another way Vista makes the computing experience better.

Outlook works well for me as well, especially off an Exchange server.

I get all my email on my work laptop, I can access it via Outlook Web Access from anywhere, and I also have it linked into my Mac so I can check up and respond to work email while I'm on my sofa in front of the TV!

Yet another reason I'll be running Linux on my next laptop, with maybe a VM of W2K or XP.

Glad to hear it! Yeah - I wish there were mobile devics that didn't require Outlook as a sync base.

I've been thinking I might switch to Linux for my next computer, too. If I do, I'll still have to run Windows as a virtual PC so I can use Photoshop. I can't do without that...

I don't understand way the geniuses at Microsoft decided to abandon OE in Vista...guess it worked too well so they needed an excuse to create something that doesn't work at all.

Did they? Surely there's some kind of email client in there.

I wouldn't know. From the moment I was allowed access to MSDN subscriber downloads, I put the full version of MS office on my laptops.

Hmmm.. That's where I got my Windows Vista CD from too...

If it's part of the OS, they can't charge extra for it . . .

I have Vista that way too, but NO WAY I'm going to load it on any machine I have any say about.

So what else is new? Nothing worked with BOB, and almost as little with WinME.

Exact same thing but I renewed mostly because I am a news junkie and it has all the cable news networks as well as the BBC. I would hate for the poop to hit the fan and me be on the road missing it, they hooked me. I also really like the bluegrass channel. Most all the music stations suck. They feature a separate station for the 50s 60s70s 80s 90s plus all those other music stations but it is crappy music of the 50s 60s 70s etc. At least that was my take on it.
