I thrive in the heat, upper 80's low 90's and I get along well.

Once it crests 75º, I start getting grumpy.... um... grumpier.

They make houses without AC??

We only get a few weeks, maybe a month of really bad heat, then it settles back down to the 80º range. Living next to a large ocean has some benefits....

We need AC when its past 75 here, usually. I guess you don't have as much humidity somehow.

Hey Lonnie! have you read this?

I hadn't seen that one. Great story! :D

I went to the grocery store a little while ago. When I opened the door to head out, apparently Minnie thought we were going for a walk (I thought she was still laying on the bed), and she bolted out and ran again. I called after her a few times in my normal tone, but she wasn't slowing down one bit. When she got to the end of the building, I made it a command and said "Minnie! Come here!" She stopped instantly, turned around and slowly plodded back to me. Yay! We're making progress! :D

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

I wouldn't even be opening a window yet at 75, but humidity sucks. That makes a huge difference! At 75 with humidity, the AC would definitely be on, here...

It doesn't ever get to a high humidity, unless it's raining, of course.

90% of them here.
To drop near $3k for 7-10 days use per year is not really worth it in my opinion.

I usually hate driving through cities. But Lisa's new rig has satellite radio, and so I listened to the comedy station all the way up. Laughed my butt off all the way through Seattle. It was great.

I don't have XM but Wooly-Dan does.... our last shoot together...we were so far from anywhere... that he didn't even get XM signal a good part of the time we were out and about! :p Guess that's what we get for living in the mountains... ;)

I'm glad you got the snow and not us, Crissa! This school bus was in front of me on the way home yesterday and the message echos my sentiments exactly! (this is a through-the-dirty-car-window with the P&S shot)

When I was stationed in California I really missed the distinct changes in seasons. So I try hard not to complain too much. I do reserve the right to be sarcastic about it once in awhile, though. ;-)a

I know, I'm spoiled after living here for 42 years, but this is the time of year when I'd like to be relaxing on a beach in the Caribbean. I just don't think I could handle true winters like you get...

Heather's parents moved to Maine and then New Hampshire several years ago and her father has managed to wreck two SUV's so far because of the weather.

Hey Lonnie! have you read this? LINKY (external link)

That story was all over our news last night. The military has sure gotten hard-a**ed about pets in war zones. When I was in Vietnam everybody had mascots, at least at the bases. We had dogs at both of the bases where I was stationed. They were horribly inbred and as a result weren't the brightest animals. We had one we called "Dinky Dow" which was an
American "grunt" corruption of Vietnamese "dien cai dau", meaning batty, squirrel bait, whacko, goofy, Etc., 'cause she was... At another base we had a mutt named Ralph whose favorite thing to do was lift his leg on the Chiefs or Officers at morning quarters. Seems he had a thing for khaki...

XM is satellite based, not air waves. As long as the sky is visible (and the antenna was installed properly), it should work. I spend most of my life in the mountains, and the only time I ever had a consistent problem getting a signal was on the many drives I made between Lake Tahoe and Placerville on Highway 50. There's a section of that drive where the mountains rise steeply on both sides, blocking the antenna's view of the sky, and for about 10 or 15 minutes, XM just won't play.
