I've been trying to play with DOF with my 50mm.... I'm not pleased with the exposure but I was apparently overly focused on DOF... :p

I could have kicked myself the other day...I was in Demming and there was some beautiful landscapes but I DID NOT want to keep changing off my lenses so I opted for the G9. The light was so poor and I didn't realize it was on auto iso...so my landscapes are horridly noisy. But this was such a cool shot (if you can imagine it done properly) I thought I'd show you anyway

That does look like a neat locale! The shot doesn't look too bad either...quit pixel peeping and enjoy a nice image!

Here's a badly shot-up Sherman Tank from the Patton Museum. I'm too lazy to edit out the vapor trail. The picture isn't worth the effort.

The think was so nasty and rusty, I decided to use B&W. The color version is just too depressing.

You guys are crazy.

Just back from a movie ("There Will Be Blood"). It got good reviews and Oscar nominations. But I have to tell you...there's two and a half hours of my life I'll never get back. Seriously, this thing was baaaaaad. Very slow. And usually you don't notice the music unless it's really good, right? Well, not the case here. It was so irritating that it actually detracted from the movie.

And these aren't just my opinions. The person I went with thought the same thing. And to a person, everyone we spoke with walking out said the same thing. "What the hell was that?!"

Then I stopped off for a quick bite to eat at a place that has wi-fi so I was on my iPod. I've never successfully replied to a PM on that thing. I'm not sure why. Anyway, I'm not ignoring those of you who PM'd me.

Thanks Dan! :) I enjoy all things fire and fire trucks... have most of my life! I only left the fire service when I was 7 months pregnant with the young man standing in front of the fire truck! So it was a worthy sacrifice!

The best part is I know the door code to get into the station and go down there and smell the smells and shoot the sites any time I want!!!!!

That would be a hoot. When I was in the Coast Guard, I volunteered to go to every firefighting school I could. In the six years I was in, I must've attended ten? maybe twelve week long schools all up and down the West Coast. I had a blast in every one. Pun intended. From what I gather, fighting fires on a ship is completely different than fighting a house fire. I had thought of going the firefighter route when I got out of the Guard, but one thing led to another and it never materialized, to my sorrow.

this is a beautiful photo. Nicely done Chief. You should put it in the SMWYG contest ;) In fact, more of you, with your lovely photos, should enter that! [/end shameless contest plug]

That's a cool shot, Chief. Is this museum close to home for you?

Just back from a movie ("There Will Be Blood")....

I've come to the conclusion that the movies that the Academy Awards deem as the Best usually aren't the best. Part of that may be because I enjoy cartoons and comedies.

Nice Patton shots Chief....sad to see the state of disrepair on the tank...but it looks like it has some potential for abstract shots.
