I'll get caught up in a little while.

[rant]I am currently in possession of an Amex card with someone else's picture on it -- one that I would hope a merchant would question before accepting. Upon receiving said card, I was told to go get my picture taken again, and then call back 48 hours later so Amex could rush me a new card before our trip to Oregon.

I called yesterday, following their instructions, and was told that there was no way they could get me a card with my photo on it for another two weeks, but they'd be glad to rush me a temporary one with no photo on it right away. It should arrive by Tuesday.

Why couldn't they have done that when I first called?

So -- there goes one credit card.

Next, we came home from going to play in the snow today to a message from the Visa Fraud department. I called them up and found that apparently someone has managed to get our account information and is trying to use it in France.:evil::evil:

They canceled that card, and will be rushing me a new card. It should arrive no later than Wednesday.

So -- there go two credit cards.

Those are the only credit cards we carry.

We're also trying to book some things for our Spring Break trip -- using our Visa card to obtain some special benefits. But won't be able to do that until we get a new card. When we get the new card, we'll be packing to leave town for the weekend and I'm not sure we'll be able to call and finish the booking currently being held for us.

[/rant]

Playing in the snow was fun, though. Took about 200 shots of us sliding down hills.

Boy, you almost ran out of luck there, David. thank goodness for snow play!;)

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I am always afraid of people stealing my identity. It's a terrible problem here. The Post Office just sent out information about things not to do, and one thing is not to put paid bills in your mailbox. So sad these days.

Mo, I love beans! I just made brownies for a farewell. One of my former students and my son's former BYU roommate is leaving tomorrow. Great food tonight. His mom sells Pampered Chef stuff and she is a great cook. I'm excited.

Believe it or not...having the original box does demand a premium. I don't see it as that big a deal, but there are people that refuse to buy a lens without a box. Most of the box hype has been perpetrated here and on other forums by intimating that people that keep their boxes somehow take better care of their gear than people that don't.

So sad...

Somebody had way too much time on their hands... Normally I don't like Flash websites, but I have to admit that was pretty clever.

Darn shutter lag on those cheap cameras. You shoulda been using a real professional camera like the (everybody!) S5.

:D

Great shots, Didier. It amazes me, as I look at those shots, that there are people who live there, in the midst of that beautiful architecture and history, and they take it for granted. They see it everyday, perhaps they grew up there, and to them, it's just background noise and clutter.

Then I wonder if it's the same for me where I live. If there are people who live in big cities and have envy for the vistas that we have in Oregon.

Weird. Me, being philosophical. I gotta cut that out.

After returning from Boston, I was looking at some of my shots and thinking that they'd look nice framed. Then stopped and thought, why can't I do the same style of shot here with a local subject. I know there are things I can approach the same way, and it would be more meaningful if the shots were of local interest. It's just a question of why I don't see things here and approach them the same way.

That's a great one, Riley! Way to go!!

Hooray for Riley. Very nice shot!

Okay, grandson has left and I finished shampooing my carpets, dealt with some of your reported posts (;)) and now i can play for a little while before I make some New Orleans style red beans and rice.

I sense some jambalaya is in our not so distant future.

Now that I think about it, there's Jake's Famous Crawfish or something like that in P-town, isn't there?

The kids had a blast. No face plants to share, though. ;) The littlest guy kep telling us he was done, and then he found out he could ride the tube or dish on his belly, lying down instead of sitting up, and found a whole new rush to enjoy.

I've been lucky until now. I've had more places than I care to remember send me noticies about their databases being compromised, but never had a problem until now.

My brother (6' 4", 250lbs, decidedly not Asian) had his ID stolen a few years ago by a 5' 2" 120lb Asian guy who caused him all kinds of grief when my brother and his wife started trying to buy a house. Until they started looking, they had no idea. The other guy had been renting apartments + utilities + etc. and then walking away from them for more than a year before my brother found out.

C'mon over. There's plenty of room and food for all.

(Now wouldn't that be truly fun?)

Yes I believe it would be GREAT fun!
