Picked up a Dual Quad Core Xeon 3.2ghz machine with 16gb of ram, three 1tb hd's.... If anyone is interested in how 8-cores does i'll post some thoughts on the machine in a few days after I get it all installed, setup and use some.

The black thing is a Drobo. Data Robotic Backup Device they call it. Very very nice backup device IMO.

www.drobo.com (external link) <---watch the video on the main page, it'll blow you away.

I am not using time machine right now, I was on my MBP's. But I have a 1tb Time Capsule on order, when it gets here I will use it for Time machine on all my macs.

I might be speed limited by the crappy 320gb sata drive. If so I will put a raptor in or something..:) From what i have seent he 1tb drives are not that speedy, so they will stay as three internal storage drives. I'll replace the srock 320 with a raptor and see what she will do.

I would assume the 1TB has to be faster than the 320, but I could be wrong.

With 16GB RAM, you could set up a RAMDISK for the first "scratch disk" say about 4GB or so, .. and you would see a huge benefit since otherwise PSCS has trouble working with over 4GB of RAM.

Very true, that is a good idea. I am still kind of new to the Mac platform. I sold all Windows stuff and went all mac over the last month or so. I will figure that out and do that tonight.

Question, for the time machine/time capsule, or any backup system do you have to have a one-to-one correspondence for drive space? In other words if I have two 1TB drives for data do I need two 1TB drives for backup? Or can I get by with one for backup for both 1TB data drives and add another as it starts to fill? Is Time Capsule expandable or do you just buy a whole new time capsule system everytime you need to add hard drive space? I am a complete newby to backup (auto). So far I've always just written redundant DVDs and am looking forward to a more automated system. I too am bailing off the Windows platform and into Mac very soon.

That thing holds nothing on my 1.66 gHz CD Mac Mini with 2 gigs...

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Sweet rig indeed but that ridicolous keyboard looks like a kid toy ;-)a. What a shame if it wasnt for that i could even fit a rig like that in my office :-)!!

The only thing missing now is a tablet.
