Just bought a used 20D from a dealer. It looks brand new and I suspect that it may have been a demo unit. I have heard that there is a hidden menu with a shutter operation counter. Does anyone know about this?

The image count is not a good indicator for cameras that have not been in your possession since the day it came out of the box. There are too many things that can change it and too many hands on camera increasing the odds that the image count is not close. Also, if the shutter has been actuated without a CF card in the slot, the pic number is bumper. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Thanks everyone. Not worried about it just interested. Went out with it yesterday and got the first results. I know it is obsolete now in terms of pixel count but the pictures are stunning.

It's a discontinued model but certainly not obselete. CMOS sensor with DIGIC II processing, ETTL II FEC, 1/8000sec shutter. When it was released in 2004??? it was the 'bees knees'. A successor to the 10D and a primary tool for many wedding and event photographers worldwide. SAM

Pfft, I have printed shots a couple of feet across from my wimpy 8mp 20D and had them turn out fantastic! 8->10mp isn't all that much in reality. Gear Listhttp://www.codastudios.com.au
