Bennett is actually my middle name but use it as my first name. I have to get used to jokes like, "Bennett, hell I broke it!" Thanks for the assurance on the bag and look forward to getting my hands on it tomorrow. Down the road, I will probably get a Vertex 200 or similar pack for "wilderness" outings.

Bennett, congrats on the purchase, with your description of gear you want to put in, an it's intended us, I am sure it will serve you well.

Oh, just curious BTW, is Bennett your first name, or last. It is my last name, thus asking. :D

Can anyone tell me if the gear I listed to be carried in the Flipside 300 would fit in a Lowepro Rover AW II? I am considering this one for "wilderness" day trips and would want to take my 300 f4 IS + 1.4 extender. I think the Trekker series are just too big for my needs. BearLeeAlive (a.k.a. Mr Bennett) do you have one?

This looks like a nice day bag to bring to the zoo or somewhere with the family. Enough for a camera, 2 lens and spare room for diapers and baby gear. now THAT is a day backpack.

All the gear you can carry int the Flipside 300 would fit in the Lowepro Rover AW II with no problem. I use the Rover most of the time while hiking as it also allows me to carry some other gear too. It is a bit awkward to get in to when I carry a tripod, but it is not that bad. The rain cover has been used a couple too, nice to have.

I just got this bag and it is awesome. I can easily fit my 5d w/grip and 70-200 2.8is /16-35/fisheye/550ex and 24-70 in there. There is enough spare room for a sandwich and water bottle. I love the fact that it has the tripod pouch. I've owned 3 camera bags and this is the one that I have been looking for.

I don't really understand why you say you are switching. I have lots more gear than you list, but I sure am not going to carry it around all day. This pack for me is for that 'busy urban carry what I need pack'. There are other packs for carrying more gear if desired.

Congrats, you will love it as an urban assault pack for the gear you list. Aren't the nice clean lines just great? :)
BTW, where in Alberta are you?

Why I'm switching? I plan to get more lenses, a 70-200 being one of them. No way you fit that in there now.

Where are you in Alberta? I picked mine up at Vistek in Calgary.

I got mine through b&h....still had a credit there and couldnt think of anything else I really wanted right now. Vistek is great though. I really like the store they just opened here in Edmonton.....adds a little friendly competition.

It's all in the planning, I carry one along (and retro plans too as well) with more gear that you list, but I leave a second body behind. For the type of use I bought it for, there is no need for a second body, and if there was I would then use a different pack.

I tell you, since getting more in to photography lately, I am gaining an understanding why my wife need more than one purse. ;)
Shoes though, I just don't understand the need for that many pairs of shoes.

When you order the bag, get some extra dividers. I find my self needing them now.

I'm about to order one of these backpacks. Who carries extra dividers?

I searched around various retailer's websites and the Lowepro website as well. I can't find any reference to separate dividers.

Mark

I actually had left over dividers when I set up the Fflipside. I am not sure where you could get extra. I have a lot of them left over from various packs though.
