Hey nuts (was that appropriate?) you mean you're from Manila?
I didn't like Manilla too much... The poverty was hard to stomach.. oh,, and the smell... But once you get into the country it's very nice.

Dang, I was going to go to Chinatown for the parade but with the weird weather that was going on, I didn't want to freeze my butt off. With the snow, sun, wind, it was definately a crazy day. From the pictures, it seems like it was a great day...at least for awhile. Canon EOS 40D | EOS Rebel XTI/400D | G9

It's a first for me though, being mistaken for a woman. Anyway, I just told my wife about your compliment, and it made her day. So it's all's well that ends well Pio

Kinda funny how many of us here have some connection to the Philippines. I spent a month there in '86. About 2.5 weeks in all the districts of Manila and another 1.5 weeks around San Fernando? (Clark/Subig area) A weekend of that was in the bush a few hours South of there even. The entire stay was on Luzon, except for a brief day trip to 100 Islands Park. I heard the news about our 1st space shuttle disaster from the Philippines and watched Rocky V? (Dolph Lungren) in Tagalog with English subtitles. Those kind of things just sort of punctuate how far you are from home and how much of a world there really is outside of home. Good experience for folks to see other countries 1st hand, expecially 3rd world countries. One "needs" less after seeing how little others have with a similar degree of happiness or lack thereof. Not to diminish the difficulties of a hand to mouth daily existence for a huge part of their populace in any way. I am glad you have had a great experience in the Phiippines. 1986 was an interesting year, what with the EDSA revolution and subsequent kicking out of a former president. Pio
