Hey nuts (was that appropriate?) you mean you're from Manila?

I didn't like Manilla too much... The poverty was hard to stomach.. oh,, and the smell... But once you get into the country it's very nice.

I'm filipino as well. Mother and Father from Manila and Batangas respectively. Relatives in Makati, Cebu, I think I'm getting this right but yeah, I'm waiting to go back to Palawan for a shoot there.

Easy there Quagmire...

They were very sweet and kind; the type of girls you find in most 3rd world Catholic countries... They were very thankful for everything and saw the beauty in things most don't... ALOT different than the stuck up, rich, gimme gimme gimme, look at my new BMW, hey is that a twinkie, American **** I am used to dealing with.. haha

****, I must be gay caz that's a cute pic...

LOL. I am 44, and that's my son on the avatar. Hey I am glad you enjoyed your stay in the Philippines, I bet you had your fill of sisig and dinuguan.

Nutsandbolts, great to see another pinoy 'tog here. Where in Jersey are you at? Do you visit NYC? We just had a meet yesterday, look at the photos here: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=451592

Perhaps you can join us for the next meet, not sure though when that would be.

To get back on topic, I am quite curious with this Sigma DP1. I will head off to B&H right away once it is available and check it out.

Dang, I was going to go to Chinatown for the parade but with the weird weather that was going on, I didn't want to freeze my butt off. With the snow, sun, wind, it was definately a crazy day. From the pictures, it seems like it was a great day...at least for awhile.

Regarding the Sigma DP1, I'm not even going to try and look at it. It'll be another thing on my Want/wish list. Right now, I'm just going to sit back and listen to the things that will come out of this post.

Once it is in people's hands, we'll see how "cool" it is.

LOL, CJ, don't worry about it, it's an honest mistake. It's a first for me though, being mistaken for a woman. Anyway, I just told my wife about your compliment, and it made her day. So it's all's well that ends well :)

Nuts (I feel strange calling you that) it was a great day. Actually we were all a bit overdressed as it was warmer than expected. Though come 4 pm, it started snowing, very weird.

As for the DP1, I am really curious. I hope it's available at B&H soon.

Kinda funny how many of us here have some connection to the Philippines. I spent a month there in '86. About 2.5 weeks in all the districts of Manila and another 1.5 weeks around San Fernando? (Clark/Subig area) A weekend of that was in the bush a few hours South of there even. The entire stay was on Luzon, except for a brief day trip to 100 Islands Park. I heard the news about our 1st space shuttle disaster from the Philippines and watched Rocky V? (Dolph Lungren) in Tagalog with English subtitles. Those kind of things just sort of punctuate how far you are from home and how much of a world there really is outside of home. Good experience for folks to see other countries 1st hand, expecially 3rd world countries. One "needs" less after seeing how little others have with a similar degree of happiness or lack thereof. Not to diminish the difficulties of a hand to mouth daily existence for a huge part of their populace in any way.

Hey tk, that's an interesting story. I am glad you have had a great experience in the Phiippines. 1986 was an interesting year, what with the EDSA revolution and subsequent kicking out of a former president.
