I have only had my T2i for less than a week. I was trying to check the different f-stops on the 18-55 kit lens and the lens will only go to 4.5. I noticed on the lens it says it is a 3.5-5.6 lens. Why will it only go to 4.5? I am trying to learn how to take pictures in something other than using the automatic mode.

The maximum aperture varies with the zoom. At 55mm, it's f/5.6.
