I've had my Canon G1 less than a week and am beginning to wonder whether the rubberized plastic snap-on terminal cover on the side of the camera will last a month. Does anyone have any comments about its durability?

Does anyone have any comments about its durability? Mine has lasted since November 2000 and shows no sign of wear. I open it to charge the battery several times a week. I like to keep the battery topped off.
