For those of you who don't know, I sent my 1D mark III to Canon for repair. That was NOVEMBER 27, 2007. It's been over TWO MONTHS. I've called so many times only to get the run around. "These repairs take time yada yada yada" I got an intermittent Err99 and the mirror wouldn't flip up.

I finally got a shipment from canon yesterday and this is what I found:

IMAGE: http://www.nightanddayphoto.ca/misc/forumpics/wff/MarkIIIRepairReport.jpg

This surprised me. It is complete with a letter stating my warranty has been extended a year from this date.

Good thing they gave me a camera that does not fall within the sub-mirror recall serial numbers.

I don't know what to think... I was annoyed they took so long, but happy they gave me a new camera. But should I be happy that CPS canada weren't competent enough to fix my old camera??? Because they've sure done some crappy work on my lens calibrations and repairs.

What do you think?

Lloyd,
Seems like WAY too long to be waiting for a fix/repair/replacement. I would complain to someone important at Canon. It should not take that long........ever!

Ditto! But, I have heard so many stories about Canon Canada service that it makes me wonder what's going on there.

I think you should do Canon a favor and let their main headquarters know about your dissatisfaction about Canada CPS. If a division of their business is the 'weak-link' that is driving their customers away, they ought to know about it.

I wonder if demo means Canon took the camera out of the box and tested it (post-production) before sending it to the OP as a replacement?

maybe it is a demo unit. All I know it's there's a good chance it's probably a helluva lot better than my 16K actuation Err99 prone bad sub-mirror unit.

It looks brand spankin new. The number of clicks on it was 20 when I got it.

I'm happy. Now I gotta test it and put it through it's paces before my next wedding in just over a week.
