Cannot detect camera

ZoomBrowser EX does import my pix. Connect to Camera comes back with:
Cannot detect camera. Check connection to camera, then retry.

I have done this many times including switching to USB ports which have worked with other devices, but to no avail. I've also used different cables connecting from camera to USB.

Help will be much appreciated.

Use a card reader to get your images ona computer. Its a lot faster than the camera connection anyway.

Is the camera turned on? I am used to USB devices being detected just by plugging it in. My new canon must be turned on after plugging it in to the USB.

been there, done that!! i changed the usb connection speed from 2. sumthin to 1.sumthin on my s3is and it recognized the camera... and it still recognized the camera even after i set it back to 2.sumthin. i found how to change the speed buried in the back of the manual!! may work for you too!!
