I've done a little digging and have a few friends interested. Specifically myself and my former Club President.

We'd fly into Amman and make our way to Petra specifically. Lots to shoot there and it would be quite open. We'd bus into the ancient cities and would wander as such with some loosely arranged spots for HDR, pano etc.

Along the same lines of the Africa POTN trip. We're thinking maybe 365 days from now, next Jan/Feb (flexible). Is it a pipe dream to get something like this organized due to low interest or will it be 20 people into it?

Two options.

1. Fly into Jordan directly. Spend lots of time in Petra proper with extras.

2. Fly into Israel (Eilat) and stay at Club Med. Day trips into Jordan. Much more expensive and more touristy.

I'm all about #1. Immerse yourself in the country. Jordan and Petra is quite safe these days.

Thoughts?

I'm right jealous - loved Jordan & would be really keen to go back. Trouble is we're really keen to eat and keep a roof overhead too! must start buying them lotto tickets.
Shall I start posting pictures from 2005 trip? ;)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
TF posting: here :-)

was in Petra last December. Option 1 is better. Take the King's Hwy to Petra. The scenery is spectacular. That said, it would be a shame to miss Wadi Rum while you are in the vicinity. Wadi Rum is more easily accessed from Eliat. Aqaba (beside Eliat in jordan) is a cheaper solution than Eliat...plus you don't have to cross the border every time.

I'd be interested. Not sure i could justify an entire trip to just Petra. I think i'd join you guys for a few, and maybe head over to Syria.

I'd spend 5-7 days there and regret not seeing it all I'm sure.
