Yesterday I went out shooting with the 40D and Sandisk 8GB Extreme III card. Both were purchased 1 month ago (new).

Out of the 862 images I shot, 30 looked similar to this:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'text/html' | Byte size: ZERO

I tried loading them on a different computer. Same result. I tried loading them with a different card reader/cable. Same result.

I sent a raw file to someone and they opened it and had the same result.

I formatted the card in the computer and then in the camera and went shooting today.

Out of 170 shots taken, this is the first (and only) one that's corrupted.

All of the corrupt shots were taken on AI Servo and high speed burst.

Has anybody experienced anything similar with the 40D? I recall this happened one time a couple of weeks ago with the same combo, but didn't think much of it at the time.

I need to shoot more with the 40D and a different card to try to isolate the problem.

Any thoughts?

He already tried reformatting :-) You need a new card me thinks.

Try using Live View to see whether the corruption starts at the sensor end of things or the memory card. It won't be a conclusive proof if the Live View looks normal but if the live display is corrupt it would point to the camera rather than the card.

Try a different card too, that looks like a CF card problem.

just try using an other card, if it still happens then its a camera problem, if it doesnt you need to replace the card.

Contact Sandisk. Their cards have a 5 year warranty and they haven't been making those cards THAT long.

Don't mess around with a questionable card. just get it replaced.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I will try another card tomorrow. I want to be sure it's not the camera. I will be replacing the card regardless. It's only a month old, as is the camera. And I don't want to risk it.
