filter for 17-85

Hi all,

currently I have a Heliopan 67 mm Haze (UV) Glass filter on my 17-85. I think this is fine for outdoor shots.

2 questions:

What would be a better filter for indoor or should I shoot without a filter?

Same question for outdoor night-shots of city-scapes?
