Yeah, I hate to ask :) but these aren't as easy to find test shots for online like the newer cameras.

If someone happens to have a classic and a late model xxD to compare at high ISO that'd be great :D

Sure buddy, I can do it right now. What exactly are you looking for? What ISO's? What format (RAW vs jpg)? Do you want in-camera ISO NR applied or not? Do you want them post-processed or no?

*lenses: Canon 16-35L f/2.8 | Canon 24-70L f/2.8 | Canon 70-200L f/2.8 IS | Canon 1.4x TC II

Hi, thanks! ISO1600 non processed straight from RAW would be great, 1D versus your 40D. A portrait or something like indoor sports would be ideal but I'll take what I can get.

400

800

1600

no NR

no PP

RAW!

oh ..... and something at 1/16,000 shutter

Each RAW is about 4.2MB... how does one show them here?

You could either convert it to jpg without any touching up and post that up, with some 100% crops if you're feeling generous.

Alternatively, you could upload the actual raw file to one of the free file upload websites, and link it here. That'd be great.

Thanks for your time!

Here is a link to Steve's Digicams website. There are some high iso samples on there, although there are no high iso night shots.

Thanks! That's just about all I could ask for.

For anyone following intently :) There are similar sample shots from the 20D (the M&M statue) which is about the same as the 30/40 for noise.

Without peeping too maniacally I'd say there's about a 2-3 stop difference.

I'm glad I found this thread!

Almost won a 1D today that ended up selling on ebay for $615:(. I was $10 below that.

On to the next auction! I'm now sold on the high ISO performance of this Dinosaur;)

Here is a twist to the thread. How about a high-ISO sample OF the 1D Classic?

Hey emtp563 that's a great shot but it looks like a good amount of post process sharpening. I could be wrong.(probably am...heh heh) But what I really want to know is this: is that your Canon 16-35L Mark I lens? Iv'e got a Canon 28-80L "redline" that I'm in no particular hurry to part with.
