Have you tried the selective coloring in-camera function?

Here are some test shots from today using an SD870 IS. It is extremely easy to use.

Suppose to have that capability on my S3 but have never figured out how to use it. Yours turned out fantastic.

It's an in-camera function (on the SD870 anyway), sort of like a scene mode.


You pick a color using the center point and the camera will desaturate the other colors. So those are four different pics shown.

That feature is on the S2. I haven't taken any serious photos with it. But I have tested it, and it works great!

WOW TOO COOL ok I look at my canon power shot sd 800is and i dont think I know what I am looking for can someone help me I want to do a picture like this so bad.

Go to the color swap icon on the camera...looks kind of like a tube of glue...on my camera it is by the photo stitch. Navigate to the swap color icon and select it....func set.

A little box will appear, aim that at the color you want to retain and hit the left arrow I believe for your 800. Once you get there you can play around with the up and down arrows to see the different levels.

If you do not have your users manual you can download it right from Canon.

The official term is "Color Accent"

Go to the Canon website, find your camera, download the PDF copy of your manual to your computer (so that it then becomes searchable).

The function will "accent" the chosen color to the exclusion of the others (rendering them black and white).

You can also set it (in the 870 anyway) to take the chosen pic AND the unaccented pic at the same time.

It's kinda fun. I used it a couple times on my S3 when I was bored. Never saw a shot though that really could use it. Aniwho...use the color changer on your camera?
