He was going to. Scared the snot out of me as I wasn't paying attention and he growled and yapped at me. :)

That is the most vicious dog in the city! He is clearly not a big fan of cameras (and their owners!)

Yeah, I'm not sure if my af is screwy or if I'm doing something wrong, but my shots don't seem very sharp (not just these)

I thought it was because I was shooting at night without my tripod  but some of my daytime stuff turns out soft also.

Thoughts?

Joe are you manually selecting your AF point on the XSi? You shouldn't be getting that kind of blurry pics when shooting at night.

Those were with tripod? I was going to say that your shutter speed seemed low but not if you were on a tripod. What lens? If it has IS, did you turn it off while it was mounted on the tripod?

^^^ no Tripod ( I know - Bad Joe! I didn't want to be carrying it with me on an evening walk with the missus) The lens was the Tamron 28-300 non IS, and I think I was manually selecting the focus points.

I think this may be a case of trying to run before I can walk. ;) ....baby steps Joe, Baby steps :)

Definitely learn to walk before you can run. :)

This could be a case of slow shutter speed but you did mention that you saw similar blurry pics in daylight situation?

I think your right about the shutter speed (over compensating for no flash), but before I end up hijacking this thread I think I'll read up a bit more and practice...practice...practice :D
