Budget framing questions

Hello folks, I am super green when taking an image from my screen, to my wall. My current technique is to spray adhesive to the back of a print, stick it to foam board, trim to size, and hang on the wall. Sounds hoaky I know, but I think the frameless image looks clean, and of course the price is right. Well I am giving a couple of 12x18's as a gift, and would like to find a super budget method of framing, and the recipient can then upgrade the frame however they choose. I suppose my main question is with the matting, will the image stick to the glass without matting? Do I just shop for an inexpensive 12x18 frame, or do I need to look for something bigger, and matte down to the print? Please feel free to toss out some web addresses of places with low priced frames!

Thanks!

Matting is a cheap way to make an image look better. Why not supply a good looking matte & let them choose their frame?

Just so you know the adhesive will probably interact with the print & probably shorten it's life.
