I am just getting started with Lightroom and it has already annoyed me to the nth degree.

I am in thumbnail view and it is showing all the photos properly that I have imported, as expected, except for one.

The one that isn't doing the same as everything else is being shown as one thumbnail when in fact there are two files. The file names are the same, but one is a .tif and the other is a .jpg, from when I saved for web in Photoshop and kept the same file name. What is being showed is the file name as 'myfilename.tif+JPEG'.

All other files that I have in that folder with the same file name except for the extension are displaying properly, i.e. one .tif thumbnail and one .jpg thumbnail.

I have tried everything and can't find anything that will make it show both files in different thumbnails, as it is already doing for all the other files that have a .tif and a .jpg with the same file name.

Would anyone happen to know why it is doing this and how to sort it out? I would be very grateful for any suggestions!

Thanks,

Mike

:-)

I'm not sure if this is the answer for TIFFs but look at....

EDIT -> Preferences -> Import Tab -> and tick the "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos".

Thanks for your suggestion. I gave it a try but unfortunately it is the same!

I thought it might be something to do with the file being the first one in the thumbnail preview, but it still shows both files as one thumbnail if I sort them so it is further down the page.

I also tried the stacking settings, but that didn't make any difference.

When I go to Loupe View and look at that file, it shows it as a .tif and the .jpg is listed as a sidecar file. It hasn't done that for any of my other .tif files where there is a .jpg of the same name

Is there a little thumbnail in the corner of the, well thumbnail, saying "2"? The images could be stacked. Right-click and select Stacking | Unstack or Stacking | Expand Stack.

Thanks Anke. I tried the stacking settings earlier, but it didn't make any difference. There wasn't any indicator suggesting that stacking had taken place.

I have just imported another folder of images and they are all displaying properly. So far it's just those two files in the other folder. I have inspected the file names carefully in case something had changed there, but they are consistent with all the other files that are displaying a separate .tif and .jpg thumbnail.
