Eagles 1, Nutria -1 (Caution, a little gore)

I was at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge last week and was able to witness 2 Immature Bald Eagles feeding on what I believe is a Nutria.

All shots are with the 100-400.

A nutria is a small beaver-like thing (with a rat tail) from South America that was introduced in the US for its fur. They have ugly orange/yellow teeth.

Nice shots of the eagles Chris....I had never heard of a nutria before so you also gave me a chance to learn about a new animal. The first & third shots are my favourites.

Thanks. They're considered an invasive species here and you can legally trap them. They breed like there is no tomorrow. They burrow into the banks of streams and cause tons of erosion.
