Thanks teekay! I'm way excited about getting second. Well done to everybody, keep the photos coming in.

For my two cents I find it hard to keep under 100kb (as I'm too lazy to host the pictures somewhere else) without getting compression artefacts. Keeping the image size to 800 pixels one side definitely helps me keep the size down.

yeah i can understand that point...i think i was just used to the contests that used to be run by Big_B...where it was maximum 800 pixels...I used to love those contests cause it allowed P&S's to compete with SLR's...and it used to show that it's not always the best camera that takes the best shot...just joined the SLR club on friday so unfortunately don't think i'm going to be entering many more of these competitions...which sucks cause i do enjoy em

NOOOOOOO,,,,,,,,,,you have to keep entering, so THERE. Honestly I would miss your entries. I for one hate the fact that the entries have fallen off. I am new and love this as it forces me to GO OUT and take pics with the theme in mind because I dont have a stash of photos to enter. I cant step up to SLR yet and actually I wish that in all of these forums, the G series, and the EOS series they would allow a "lesser camera enter" like here no Pro1's but "there" I think all the point and shoots should be allowed. the only reason I dont enter more on the other forums is the rule that forbids the lesser camera (and when my schedule does not allow me to enter even here). I would love to place in the EOS forum with my S5, that would, I think, force the EOS crowd to "step it up a notch" especially when once again I call it a "lesser camera" places above the "D" series. I know for me, if I had a better camera and got my ass handed to me in a basket by an S5, I would love it as it would force me to take a HARD look at my complacency and/or my skill set. Talent is talent, but there are skill sets that we all can improve on and like all the different fields of auto racing especially road racing where several classes run at the same time, the competition fuels performance.

my nickel

Now that everyone has the sizing regulations figured out, just a reminder that the new contest thread is up and ready for pictures!

yeah thats what i used to love about the other contests was that there was no limit on camera quality...the first time i found this forum i decided to enter one..just for the hell of it...and ended up winning...with my S2...it gave me a huge boost in confidence...then i ended up tying in another...which was great i felt like david vs. goliath also the entries were more 30-40...and the winner was decided by a vote...either way i'll still try and enter these...but i'm going to have to be searching the archives...need to go look for some contrast right now
