Pictures from the weekend of my 2 Labs playing fetch in the snow. Trying out my new Canon 70 - 300 EF IS. Every single picture came out overexposed because it was so bright with the sun and snow. Good thing I shot RAW as well as JPEG and managed to salvage some.

Lots to learn, and having fun doing it.

Cheers, Shayne

Shooting a black dog in white snow is problematic. Something has to go. Exposure compensation of minus one or even two stops would have given you more detail. Or better yet, take a spot meter reading off the dog and set your camera accordingly in Manual These are really nice shots though.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm hoping for more sun this weekend so I can go try again. The other problem I was having was reading the display (both through the viewfinder and the back display). I think I may take a black towel with me next time to throw over my head. Does anyone do anything similar? Any thoughts on helping with that?

Cheers, Shayne
