Anyone know of cool locations in Phoenix area to shoot? From Phoenix to as far east as Mesa?

I want architectual places, diners, restaurants, places with furniture or at least old furniture!

I know this is a random question, but I'm new to the area and need to find locations for pending model/fashion shoots.

Thanks!

Erica

I have not been out west in a long time, but I remember Arizona Highways Magazine had great photography, photographers, location recommendations, etc. I thought they even taught photo school at one time. Link:

Fabulous unexpected resource for something run by a State Dept of Transportation.
It was one of those, "If it's greater than 500 feet from the vehicle it's not worth photographing" kind of moments.

East Valley- try Rawhide- little western recreated town- there are some great stuff to utilize for locations- might have to ask permission, not sure about that. The Renissance Festival began last Saturday outside of Gold Canyon- it will be ongoing until April. TONS of cool stuff there!
The First Fridays Artwalk in Downtown Phoenix is fun- at least in the Spring and Fall- in the summer- not so much. Things don't get happenin' until dark, so you'll need a tripod and flash, which can be a pain in the throngs of people. Theres a carnival kinda area outside of Wild Horse Pass in the far south of the East Valley that could be cool.

If you are willing to drive a bit- there are a lot of interesting little towns- Cleator, Cordes Ranch, and Crown King in the Bradshaw Mtns, Strawberry, Pine up north of Payson. There are some REALLY interesting folks in those little towns.

Granite Dells in Prescott would be an awesome place for a model shoot, imo.

Good luck!

Downtown Mesa has been host to a changing assortment of bronze statues for the past few years. They are on the sidewalk up and down Main St. between Country Club and Center. Some are small, some are large and they range from whimsical to serious. I've meant to go take pictures of them but have never gotten around to it.

There are also a number of antique shops lining the street there as well and at Center and Main is the newly built Mesa Arts Center that would provide some good architecutural shots.
