Hi All

For the first time I have had the dreaded Error: "...user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid..." when you start Photoshop This is CS2.

Now I recently had a problem with ZoneAlarm Free conflicting with my Kaspersky AV - I have since removed as per directions ZA and upgraded the KAV to Kaspersky Internet Security.

Having sorted this out I now get the CS2 error message....agh!!!

I know from seeing this mentioned elsewhere that this happens but for the life of me I have no idea what caused it in my case because as I understand it the error means the CS2 registration key in the registry has been removed or damaged & nothing I did IMO should have affected or influenced 'that key'.

I would welcome any pointers/links and guidance on this one.

TIA

I don't have Windows and I didn't read this article but it may be of some use.

Hi Tom

Thanks for that, that is a rather obscure one as I do not have the mentioned 'utility'.

Having checked the various links it would seem that the "simplest" thing is uninstall and re-install and only do 'manual' methods and cleanup if required???

One concern I have is that this re installation will use up the second activation and that seems a little harsh as I may still need that in future. I have not tried phoning the UK activation phoneline and wonder if there is another support phone number I should be calling first to cover myself?

2nd activation? I was not aware that Adobe only gave you so many activations??? I'd ring or email Adobe and get some advice. Have you tried searching the Adobe Photoshop forums btw (for that error message)? Have you tried googling?

This link might help:

I suspect that kbase article might help fix the issue. Let me know how you go.

Hi Dave

I have found a phone number (right one?) to see if I can get an answer) and it does look my next step is to uninstal & reinstall .....agh!

Just deacivate before reinstalling.
I am not looking at CS2 right now but on CS3 it's under the help menu.
