Have any of you had to have any out-of-warranty repairs performed on your cameras? Im curious because the button to remove the lens on my 20D fell off! That camera has been to quite a few paintball tournaments and much much more so it's no big surprise that something broke(I'm surprised it took this long!).

Anybody have any idea how expensive it might be to fix this? Would the best bet to call one of the repair centers? Ive never had any of my equipment need any service.

Thanks

Just call the service center number from the Canon website. There is one on the west coast and another on the east coast. Folks claim they are very fair, have fast turn around, and return the camera better than it came out of the box new.

They usually don't quote you a price until you send it in, but they will do a thorough check of the camera as well as the repair.

If the quoted price is more than I'm willing/able to pay for the repair will they send it back or am I locked into a repair bill once they receive it?

You'll get an estimate first, I think it's legally required for most any type of repair.

Yep, I got a written estimate in the mail before they'd start on the repair.
