Camera/tripod screw thread.

what thread is my camera body?
is it 1/4" 20 Pitch
or 3/8" 16 Pitch.

also what about quick release plates etc, are they all a standard size or do they differ between the two

EOS cameras use the 1/4-20 thread to mount to a tripod.

Some larger cameras use the 3/8-16 thread.

Quick-release plates for tripod heads are usually available with either thread size for mounting the plate to the camera. You have to buy according to the equipment you are going to use on the tripod.
