hey guys

i currently have a hoya HMC pro 1 polarizer in 72mm threads.

i have a few lenses that are 77mm threaded, and i really cannot afford to buy a high quality CPL for it right now (dont really wanna buy crappy filters either)

i've heard of people using a larger polarizer and stepping down to fit their smaller threaded lenses, but is it possible to step "up"?

will i get weird vignetting?

thanks

Do you prefer the circular field fisheye look (in addition to the curvature of straight lines inherent to fisheye lenses)? ;) WA will do that more than long telephoto lenses!

Yeah which lenses is it for?

if you're using the XTi mentioned in your sig likelihood is for most EF (read: not EF-S) lens you'll probably be ok, if they're not too wide.

Yeah I wouldn't bother with the 12-24 you will get major vignetting, if you want to try it out though just hold the 72mm CPL in front of the lens and see.

I'd say sell your current polarizer for a 77mm threaded one, then use a step down (or up, whatever they call it) ring for the 72mm lens.

Yeah Kenko's (identical to the Hoya's) are pretty cheap to get hold of too.
