EXIF Owner Field

I've just upgraded from a Powershot A50 to a G1. Browsing my files using Exif.exe I noticed that the Owner field for the A50 shots contains my name, despite my having no recollection of setting it when I bought the A50!

The owner field for the G1 shots is blank, and a quick search through the manual did not find a menu option that would allow me to set it. Is there any way to do so?

In Zoombrowser:

To change camera setup options

1. Establish a connection to your Canon camera.
2. In the Camera window, click Setup Options.
3. Click Camera Settings.

The Camera Settings dialog box displays.

4. Enter a name in the Owner's Name box.
5. Enter a date and time in the Date and Time box.
6. Click OK.

The settings are uploaded to the camera.

I was intrigued by this thread so I went and checked my settings. I already have my
name entered into the appropriate box on Zoom Browswer but when I went to see if my
name was being included in the EXIF data I find I can't even find an "owner' field. I
am reading the EXIF data using both Thumbs + and an EXIF reader.

What am I doing wrong?

Can someone please tell me where I can get EXIF.EXE ? I am looking for a good EXIF tool presently and the best I have found so far is Exif Reader v2.20e.

My OS is Win2000 on an Intel machine. I saw iView Multimedia (Mac) in a book recently, and this is the kind of program/interface I am looking for. Any input is welcome. Thank you !

I don't think you need ZoomBrowser installed to change the Owner field, just the EOS Utility. This is what I did:

* Connected my XTi
* Opened EOS Utility (v1.1.0.8 )
* Clicked the button next to "Camera settings/Remote shooting" (in the middle under "Set up camera/shoot remotely"), which brought up another window titled "EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi"
* Clicked the wrench/hammer button in the bottom right of that window, which drops down a new section
* Clicked on the Owner's Name line, filled in my name, and clicked OK

I wasn't sure if it would apply the name to the camera, or just pictures taken with the remote app, so I unplugged the camera and took a picture. After downloading the picture, it had my name in the field.

That dropdown menu has a few other features as well: You can change the time on the camera, set it to the computer's time, and even have it automatically set it to the computer's time. You can also format the memory card in the camera and upgrade firmware (provided you have a firmware file).

Bear in mind that the original thread was written in 2001 and it is likely that Zoombrowser was the tool used at that time.

You are correct with current methodologies.

It is easily done if you look in the Similar Threads bit at the bottom of the page under this message - there are posts from 2002 and 2003 regarding EXIF

Anyone have a link to download this software: EOS Utility (v1.1.0.8 )

I found a later version and it does not want to work with the 20D

Unless someone can tell me how to set the owner in the exif info on a 20D

The search feature... It knows no dates or age.
